Since my family were Welsh it was tradition for a boy who at the age of 13 would start serving his apprenticeship under his grandfather in the family trade and ours was/is woodworking. I started on the 16 day of April in 1948. We worked many, many jobs until I joined the Carpenter and Joiners Union, Local 200 in Columbus, Ohio and worked for 17 years out of the hall while teaching the apprenticeship program for the last 5 years of my nmembership. From there I went to the Tolles Technical Center where I taught the Vocational Carpentry Classes for the Junior and Seniors in High school and after 3 years there I went to th Madison Correctional Institution for the next 8 1/2 years and retired from there on 1 May 1995 and started my construction business full time until 1997 where I retired to my shop behind my home and after 14 years, my furniture being Arts and Crafts as well as conventional have now been nationally recognised. I write the WOOD MAGAZINE QUIZ on the General woodworking Forum as well as the MIND BENDERS on the Home Improvement Forum. I have been writing these quizzes for at least eight years now and have seen four changes in the WOOD ON LINE Format and this one will be five. I am also a host of the Forums to fill in where ever needed. I enjoy being on these forums as we are one big family of woodworkers even though we are many miles apart.
