I am attempting again to move tutorial 1 from the old forum. there is a good bit of detail lost in the pictures. I will redraw the pictures where the detail is critical.
This is section one of the table tutorial.
To begin you should have Sketchup up and running. Under the windows tab choose preferences, you will get a popup menu ; select template. This should allow you to enter dimensions in inches and fractions or decimals.
Now we are ready to start drawing.
First click on the rectangle tool and draw a 24 inch rectangle.
If you look at the small box in the lower right corner you will see the numbers change as you move the tool. to draw the 24 " rectangle you can just enter 24,24.
Now select the push pull tool and move it to the rectangle when you click you can see as you move the tool you can push it into a cube. When you see the numbers changing in the lower right just enter 24 and you have a 24" cube.
Now select the orbit tool, manipulate the drawing so the bottom is visable. you can also use the zoom tool to get a better view.
Next, back to the rectangle tool and put a 2" rectangle in each corner of the bottom
Now some sketchup magic. Select the push pull tool again. Click on the center portion of the bottom. as you push up on the bottom and see the numbers changing in the lower right enter 20. This will push up the bottom and leave 20 inch legs.
Now just use the obbit tool and rotate the table back upright and save your work.
That's it for section 1. If you have problems let me know tomorrow we will pick up from here.
Please be free with the feedback. Was it understandable?
