Here is the problem. I started by making a rectangle. I made the rectangle a component and edited the component with the bezier curve, cut away the part of the rectangle not needed, and pulled the shape to thickness. At this point everything is fine and all faces are present. I then run a roundover on the top and and bottom edges and everything is fine at this point. See the picture below.
When I make a copy of this component, 2 handles are needed and move it into place, the top and bottom faces disappear. The same problem occurs when I copy the component rectangle into place before doing the rest of the drawing. Everything is fine until I save the file and then reopen it later. See photo below. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John

John,
Sorry, I do not have the answer. This is a suggestion, usually faces will disappear when not completely surrounded by edges. I would look at the drawing very carefully, zoom way in and look for a small piece of the edge that has disappeared for some reason then draw it back in. The missing face should reappear.
Please let me know if you figure it out.

Finally got it to work by making a copy of the component and then scaling the copy up. The larger the scale, the better the roundover got and eventually the faces stopped disappearing.
Thanks

Musky Fisherman,
You have the solution.
When working with very small details with great complications, just like this one, scaling up to do the modeling after building the basic shape, solves the problem.
You might also START with the item dimensioned at the larger size, make all the changes and then scale down to the desired size. The scale factor of 100 makes the math easier, too.
By the way, I recognize the item you're working on!
I found the same problem and solved it the same way.

How are you coming along with the project. I have finished it (the first draft) and the class is about to finish their first draft. They have really enjoyed working on this challenge. Some of the challenge is due to the computers we are using however, we need to update some. I have had a few kids coming in as early as 6:30 am to work on it and some staying until 5:00 pm. We are having problems trying to figure out how to round over every edge of the drawer sides. I can't seem to find a path that works.
John
