Wood lathe banjo

[ Edited ]

One of my lathes is a Delta 46-111.  I never liked the idea of using a wrench to move the banjo around.  I know I could have bought one but thought it might be fun to make my own.  Here it is after it was done and tested.

I took it apart and smoothed it  out some and gave it some paint.  Here it is all apart.

I put the eccentrics on the end leaving the center stronger but then needed a way to get it together.  I drilled a larger hole in the end and made the nylon bushing you see in front of the body to close it back in.  Here it is completed and in good working order.014.JPG

Re: Wood lathe banjo

Good job.  I am trying to learn maching and that is a good project that I may have to tackle some day.  I could use a second banjo for larger projects.

Re: Wood lathe banjo

Good work.  Now you need to turn a wood hand grip for the locking arm.

Now why didn't I think of that?  I have been keeping an eye out for a some type of sleeve for it.  Thanks Bill.
