I played with these this weekend. I hopped back and forth between putting layers of finish on 4 bowls, turning, glueing, and finishing some hand mirrors and then turned and pierced these angels. I was also doing a clean, lube, restore, and adjustment of a new 1" strip sander I bought. It's kind of funny watching me work. I put a layer of finish on the bowls, then took the table off the sander and put Naval jelly on it, then turn part of a hand mirror. Fill the bad spots on the mirror with black epoxy and put that up to dry. Turn and angel. Then start the process all over, finish, remove Naval Jelly, steel wool and spray some lacquered bowls, turn and glue up the mirror, While this is drying I turn another angel. Eat lunch, ride the bike 20 miles, then work on the sander some more and turn another angel and another mirror. After dinner I did the piercing and painting on the angels. Whew.

Tough weekend John? The angels look great, so it must have been worth it.

The angels look great. If I tried to do that many different things I would probably end up with naval jelly on the mirrors or holes in the sanding table.

Those are nice. How do you cut out the fret areas? If you use like the Dremel what type of bit do you use.

Rick I use the Dremel. I'm not sure what the bit is. I picked it up at the flea mkt. It's a long skinny burr.

Rick Turn thin. I mean really thin. The Dremel doesn't like cutting through more than 2mm and even that's hard. The areas on this that were a fat 1mm pierced fairly easily. Once the wood gets thick it's very hard to control the cut with the Dremel.

Which angle do you like, 45 degrees, 35 degrees, maybe 120 degrees. Just kidding. Ain't typing fun.
