Bolt a piece of UHMW plastic to your planer bed. The boards glide through like they'ld been greased. I have owned three planers, an old Foley Belsaw, a 15 inch Delta, and currently a woodmaster. The performance has improved significantly by the modification on all of them.

That is a great, simple idea. Do you have a good source for wider pieces of UHMW plastic? All I've ever really found is 4" or so wide.

I have a guy down the road that does plastic machining- plastic pulleys for fork lifts and plastic tools for the power company, etc. I have gotten the 1/2 inch thick UHMW from him. I would scope out the same in your neighborhood. If you can't locate someone, give me a holler and I can find out what it would cost to ship a peice to you.

Great idea and yet so simple. To find sheets of this key in UHMW and do a search. You may be surprised at the places you can find it and also the sizes.

Kevin I'm wondering. If you use a much longer piece of place if you could reduce your snipe.

The low tech approach to this is a good rub down with Johnson's Paste Wax. Works the same way.
