Re: What Router For Dedicated Table Use?

I also have an old Craftsman 3HP plunge router and it works for me.  However, if I were to do it over again, I would try to find the largest fixed base router I could afford for the extra stability.

Re: What Router For Dedicated Table Use?

I just want to thank everyone for all the comments and input. I looked at all the routers that were recommended. This is a great site, mostly because of the great people that participate. Thank you very much. If you are curious what I finally got... after looking at the features and functions of the different units, and finally the PRICE (my limited budget did have a say)... I ended up buying the Milwaukee 3.5 HP router. It is definitely a big boy that I think will do quite well in my little shop. Thanks again!

Rick

Thanks for the update Rick.  That's a beast in the table and solid choice...I rarely hear of anyone who doesn't love it.

Re: What Router For Dedicated Table Use?

I use a DeWalt #625 (3HP) for my table router. I have not had any problem with this machine. I do not have a Router lifter attached to it, so repositioning for height is a little tedious, however, the results are always outstanding.
