Awhile back WOOD mentioned free downloadable CAD.........anybody remember which one it was?

Sketchup.
It's available in a freeware version (very powerful many of us use it) HERE.
If you need help with it or generally have questions, post them at the Software board here on our forums. You'll get lots of help there.

This is a free general purpose CAD package that has a lot of capability.
