Just in the last week the price of gas has gone up from $2.31 to $2.69. At least here locally, in Florida.
Is it because we wont let the Big boys do offshore drilling?
Every time the price of oil goes up so does pump prices. Yet, when that same oil price goes down, it takes them sometimes few days, if not weeks, to bring them down.
In today's economy when a little man is trying the hardest to survive, the Big boys are reporting record quarterly profits, some to the extent of $31 Billion!!
During the election, when price went over $4.00, we all have seen how badly it hurt us. I think soon we will get there, again. So the person that just got a new job, is trying to make ends meet at much lower wages than he had before, and most of his money is going back to Oil companies. Can't even make a small stride to advance. Perhaps, they don't want us to!!
The Banks are doing something simmilar. They are increasing the % they charge you for. They claim rough economic times. hehehe... and just how do they think Little man can do when he couldn't do with lower rates?
Just another excuse by the ivory Tower people. The early 80's come to memory when interest rate climed to 30%, and above.
Bob Dylan said it well: "Times, they are a changing!"

Crude oil is traded on the commodities market and this seems to have made the price of gasoline volatile. The best way would be to rid ourselves on our dependence of oil as a fuel. On another note, our electric company (who also owns the natural gas in our area) is losing revenue because of a smaller demand for electricity and natural gas due to people conserving and industry in a slow down. What's their solution? Jack up the rates. In other words, we pay more because of conserving. It's all about money and a company having the most increase in net revenue so their stock value goes up.

The typical situation is summed up like this:
The little ol' lady gripes and complains about the cost of her heat. But dagnabbit, don't even consider lowering her dividend checks from her energy company stocks!!
Can't have one without the other.
Ain't capitalism grand?

Ha, Bob,
Here, our good and blessed FPL got caught with their pants down...
Every year they go before PSC and ask for a raise. Of course, every year they are given one.
Well, this year.... hehehe, someone let the whistle sound!!! It seams that FPL executives were giving PSC commissioners big time parties, gifts, etc., to get their vote. And they also got involved in private text messages while PSC was conducting meeting... Such wonderful high salary people they are!!! NOT!!!
Thus far three of them have resigned their PSC posts. I say out with all of them... or, as Queen would say... Off with their heads.... LOL
The Governor is waiting to see what happens next. And people are about to march on capital and to be heard.

As far as drilling offshore, nope, not in our country, but the commander in chief has no problem giving Brazil 2 billion dollars to start their own exploration so they can provide us with oil, man, that 2 bil would have been nice to keep in our own borders and let some upstart oil companies explore and provide jobs to our own. Oh well, sigh.
By the way, oil is still the most efficient way of delivering energy. Solar, wind, green fuels, they just arent there yet, if they were, we would have them by now. The green is just to dang expensive. Yeh I know you all will come up anecdotal stories of your pellet stove that saved you 6 hundred bucks last winter, but when your providing energy to the masses, green does not work, not yet. Tell me of one green source of energy that does not have to be subsidized by Uncle Sam or State gov. No one could afford it other wise on its own merits.

Just imagine how many families could have been saved from disgrace by loosing home, etc.....or helping those in need of medical care... Sigh
but, we do need to have foreign relations and keep things smooth.
