Not always lumber that is cut

Nice day here in North East OH.  Sunny, warm, barely a cloud in the sky.  The sawyer at the mill wasn't in a nice sunny mood though.  He started his day innocently enough.  Morning coffee, talking to the boys, reading the sports page.  He thought the teeth on the blade were getting a little worn, and it was time to change all 56 of them, so he did.  A couple hours into the shift, the $100 set of new teeth were about as useless as an ashtray on a motorcycle.  Here is what they hit, below:

Here it is again from the saw blade side:

It's a ceramic insulator.  When the blade hits metal, the teeth can usually be resharpened.  Not so when it hits ceramic.  It heated the blade up so hot it deformed it.  The blade ended up returning back to shape once it cooled though.  Break out a new set of those $100 teeth, and get busy.

On the brighter side, here is a 400 bd ft load of curly maple fresh from the kiln, see below. Still 500 more board feet of curly maple to unload!  1000 bd ft of FAS Pennsylvanian cherry is next.

Off to my Amish buddies house to get milled out, below:

Thanks to all for the feedback.  It's nice to read all your posts.
