MIND BENDER for 19 NOV 09

Good Morning Friends, With some states already having a foot of snow already I just yesterday thought I had better check out the snow blower. I put in fresh gas, checked the plug that was new last year and checked the oil. After I primed the push bulb I crossed my fingers and gave a yank on the cord and it fired up on the first pull. So I guess I am ready for that first snow of the year in our area. How ready are you folks for the upcoming weather in your areas?

I've got the heat lamps on timers for the dogs outside.  IF we get snow here in West Texas, they'll just shut the town down so I don't have to worry about plowing or blowing anything :smileyhappy:

Let's see......So. California......no snow.....some rain........typical daily temps of 65-80 degrees with nights 45-65 degrees.

Ok, now to check the wardorbe. Short pants in the drawer for those 80 degree days in December along with my flip-flops sitting by the garage door...check. Long pants and flannel shirts in the closet ....check. Ok, I'm ready for winter.

Well, I do have to do a couple of real things winter related. Checking all the vehicle's wiper blades and putting some Stabil in the lawn mower as it will be sitting for a few months. But I forgot to do that last year and it ran just fine this year after a few pulls. I will also have to fire up the furnace and put in a new filter. Almost Thanksgiving and the heater hasn't kicked in yet.

Good Morning All;

Allen needs to quit. I used to live in SoCalif so I remember what it's like down there. Here in Montana we had the shorts out for about two weeks this past summer. Heaters been on for two months now and long pants and jackets used most days now.

Other than that most everythings ready for winter except for the snow tires. Will hold off on them for a few more weeks untill we have to go over "the hill" shopping.

I got to take what I can as most of you folks that get cold and snow in the winter have mild summers while us So. California folks in my area (Riverside & San Bernardino Counties) live with 95-115 degree heat from June through September which makes shop time difficult. It gets a bit annoying when your table saw gets rust on it and you have to re-sand projects because of your sweat dripping on them.:smileywink:

Good Morning Fellows, For my part I don't care if I never see another snow flake because, I hate winter. However there is nothing I can do about it so I'll just have to bite the bullet and take what comes and try to make the best of each and every situation. I do know that when they are calling for some substantial snow fall I will go to the grocery and but enough to last us for two weeks as the way the economy is our city fathers and the lact of funds will not be plowing the side streets but, only the main heavy traffic streets and roads in good old London town.
