One of the guys here makes cigar humidors. The difference between a cigar humidor, a music box  or a jewelery box is very minor. Just what you put in it.

Re: jewelry chest/armoire plans

How about stand up jewelry chest plans, does anyone know where to get them?  I cannot believe there isn't many choices after purusing the internet.  Someone has had to have built a jewelry chest that rivals the manufacturers out there.  I talking about the Armoises that sell for $250 - $800.  There is one plan available at Grizzly to make a basic chest, but just one.  Maybe this project would be way too time consuming or expensive.  If I can get my hands on one, I guess I will be the first.

Why do you feel you need plans?  Square work, boxes and the like have straightforward angles and are quite predictable.  Take a piece of paper, use Google Sketch-up or whatever.

The jewelry armoire I built (unfortunately before I had a digital camera) stood about 28" high and had a top which opened.  The front had a series of drawers of various heights with brass knobs.  The sides opened away from the main carcass and had hooks for various pieces.  Relatively simple design - but a lot of work.

Go to Amazon, search on the internet or whatever.  Find a design you like and copy it.  Pencils and paper are easy to use and a lot less expensive than plans - but they do take more work.:cattongue:

I'm made the pub chairs from a previous issue of Wood.  I didn't buy the plans - enough detail was in the article about the angles, construction and the like.  I used pencil and paper to see if I could change a few of the angles (which I did).
