different walnuts

I keep hearing different names for walnuts, Claro, Black and even just plain walnut. Can somebody help me to be able to tell the difference between all of this?

This will likely tell you more than you wish to know about Walnut http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walnut There are a lot of subspecies

And dont mix and match them within the same project. American black walnut will have a color like a light milk chocolate bar when under a clearcoat. Claro will look more like a dark chocolate bar. Peruivian will be different, still, mostly showing up in grain as well as color. Stick with the same species on the project.
