Thanks, Kent..

In one of the images, you will see the little black beer fridge under the back bar.  The dry sink also holds a lot of brews and ice too.

Re: Wooden Bar Rail Installation

Not to high-jack the thread but...

I got to thinking there has been a lot of thought and science gone into the evolution and design of a good bar. It is likely that his is one of the first applications of applied ergonomic design.

Having the bar at the right height, with a nice rolled edge and most importantly a good foot rail makes for better evening and a lot higher beer sales. Then you need to make it wide enough to give the bartender a little distance from overly excited customers. It helps to raise the floor in the back to make the bartender look a little larger than real.

We were in a very old pub in Northern Scotland a few years ago, they were in the process of raising the bar about 6", people are taller these days. They had not done much for the room itself, my head just brushed the roof beams and I had to duck at every doorway.

Re: Wooden Bar Rail Installation

Nice bar Larry!!!  I'll tip one back for ya next time I have one.

Ok my turn LOL!!!

This was my first real woodworking project.  One thing I'd like to do still, is add a tap and kegerator.  But the only thing that holds me back is I don't hardly drink.  Maybe I'll just get the tappers for the look, IDK only time will tell.

Re: Wooden Bar Rail Installation

There are also round corners you can buy on line But I'm not sure if the profiles would match up.  You would most likely have to buy rail from them too.

Here's a  "Link" to a place the makes em.

Re: Wooden Bar Rail Installation

[ Edited ]

Thanks Paladin, I didn't really think of that option.  I did buy some straight lengths of milled rail.  Trying to make it was my first thought until I started thinking about corner alignment and decided already milled rail was the easiest.  Looking at the picture there are five joints, which eliminates splitting a degree to get a good miter match, each cut would be 9 degrees.

Thanks
