WOOD Question of the Week

What are you thankful for, woodworking-wise, this year? Me? I'm thankful my garage shop is finally adequately wired--no more extension cords!

I'm thankful for my spankin' new JessEm ultra spiffy router table, and the PC 890 router that's under the hood.  Both were very unexpected gifts and represent a significant upgrade from what I'd had before.

I'm thankful for my wife who surprised me with a new professional sawstop saw for our 30th wedding anniversary.

Wow!  That's a whale of an anniversary gift.

I really haven't picked up any new tools this year worth mentioning.  However, my son has been showing some interest in woodworking.  BTW, he's 25 years old, married, teaches school and, of course, is out of the house.

Last Christmas, I bought him a small lathe from Grizzly for $150, thinking that he would quickly grow tired of it all and hang it up.  Boy, was I wrong!  He can out-turn me by now and has probably 10 times the hours on that lathe than I have on my Delta full size lathe that I've had for about four years.

We work together on projects together, discuss tools and methods, belong to the same woodturner's guild.  To have such a relationship with your son is certainly something to be thankful for.

Thankful for having a wonderful wife of 36 years that continues to support me in my hobby and appreciates the things that come out of the shop.

Rick, sorry to tell you, kids leaving the house will not leave you any more money than you had, they always call and need something, even after marriage and especially if you have daughters, to them Dad's are considered the best even with Husbands. Now onr up side is getting more Tools and then they come back and say will you make this for Us, that is the up side. Dave

Thankful that I went from NO work a year ago to more work than I can keep up with and FRIENDS who want me to do work for them ... at MY leisure.

Thank for reminding me John......

In the spirit of fairness, I want to compliment  everybody involved with the new software implementation.
