WOOD MAGAZINE QUIZ for 05 NOV 09

Good Morning Friends,

How would you make an adjustable Universal clamp rack so you could hold all of your clamps in one location?

Remember to keep your hands no closer to a spinning blade or bit than 6" for safety sake.

Mornin' Ralph -

There are many configurations...I would be sure to put it on wheels so it could be near the glue-up job.

In issue 194, a box just wide enough for the handle and long enough for your number of clamps was built and hung on the wall. A great idea I plan to use myself.

My forgetter's getting better, But my rememberer is broke. ______________________

Well this isn't portable, but it's easy.

Take a piece of scrap plywood - drill a hole with a big spade bit - screw down the plywood.

This is about as "universal" as I can get.  Holds my main pipe clamps, Bessey's, and most of my collection of Irwin's.  A length of cord and some PVC holds my spring clamps.

About as basic and simple as the rest of the shop:008 - Copy.JPG  Just an open spot on the wall bench.

Will not hold all my clamps, just the ones I use most directly over my bench. And has a power strip one one end and not in picture ,but have added mallet and carpenters square to other end.

Re: WOOD MAGAZINE QUIZ for 05 NOV 09

Good Morning All,

Great ideas and pictures and like my clamp caddy I have it on four swivel casters and I can pull it where ever I am doing a glue up but, hardly do.

Today's quiz originated from issue 191 on page 56 where the fellow bought a pair of wall shelf brackets and screwed them to the wall and with the use of the metal brackets he was able to make adjustable configureation of clamp holders for all of his clamps.

Remember to keep your hands no closer to a spinning blade or bit than 6" for safety sake.
