The one on the right is black walnut and the one on the left is cherry. I've got a coat of finish on the walnut.

Hey JL,
I especially like the exposed dovetails and the sliding dovetails is the only way to fly on this kind of table as dowels tend to break when you least expect them to. The sliding dovetail is by far the better joint because, you have the full width of the legs vertical height to with stand a pretty good load.

Both of these tables are very, very nice. I, too, am interested in seeing the cherry version after it's finished.

JL - Nice piece(s)!!!! I appreciate the "correct" grain orientation on the legs. PLEASE provide a couple pics when the finishing is complete. Different species can make a completely different "feel" and this will be a real good example of that.
