Looks like they realized they needed to address the end of NYW. Go here for a recorded message from Norm and Russ: http://www.newyankee.com/index.php .

Thanks for posting that Ted....the re-runs will be great, but I'm really going to miss seeing new eposides, and whatever was the latest in Norm's shop. At least after viewing their "Goodbye", I feel like I have some closure.

Thanks Ted. It was interesting to watch and good info.

Thanks Ted. He is such a part of our lives - he'll certainly be missed. Yeah I know he'll still be around but I have learned to depend on him for ideas and techniques.
Of course now I'll have to BUY those dvds and plans. Wonder if they'll be usable in 25 years?

Yeah - he is one of my major "wood heros". And I'm gonna miss his weekly. Maybe they'll still do an offering every now & then on This Old House where he builds something for the homeowner. I always loved the episode on the Manchester by the Sea series where he took the English fellow to the shop but blindfolded him so he wouldn't reveal where it was. Now, THAT was a hoot. And a real good project, even if he did use mdf!
John - The only plan I ever bought was the "new" router table. Maybe now it'll be a collector's item?

In Norm's farewell video he points out that we can always access his website.
I did that this morning.
Aside from the slightly boring web cam images (not live), the site is his marketing instrument and offers many commercial products generated from his 21 years on TV.
I don't have much regard for that as a substitute for his absence on TV.

Norm is a class act. I'm really going to miss the show, but I was surprised that he seemed to thank everyone except the loyal viewers.

Good Morning Ted,
Though I could not see the video I could still hear his voice and along with some of you fellows I enjoyed his shows as well as his visits to "This Old House."
However, I use time Warner as my source to the internet and for some reason TW ceased to carry his shows a few years back along with "This Old House" I don't know the reason why but, was kind of put out because of it.
If some one of you knows the address for purchasing the videos, would you kindly insert the address that I also might buy a few? I will gratefully appreciate it.
Respectfully,

We all know the legacy he is leaving behind. We also know how popular he was, and still is.
However, few things came to my mind.... after initial emotions settled down...
They did this after realizing the outpour of fans about the show. I think they should have made the announcement at the beginning of the season. Perhaps, if they knew how we felt they would have tried harder obtaining new contract.
The message doesn't appear to be sincere, rather done on the spurt of a moment.
And yup, they thank everyone but the viewer.... and without us they would have been nothing!!!
Maybe Norm just got tired making furniture for Morash... he did make two of everything that was done for the show.... LOL
All good things must come to an end, eventually.
Cheers,
Tony

Many of us come and go without ever knowing what people think or how they feel about us. I only hope that Norm will see the responses from these wood forums and know how many cars he has put out into the elements to make room for a wood shop.
I think I owe What talent, and experience I have to Norm. From watching him on This Old House as well as The New Yankee Work Shop, I got the attitude "Hey, I can do that." Then went out many Saturday afternoons after his show and started butchering wood. Now days my scrap pile is much smaller and my useful pieces look much better, to me anyway.
Thank you Norm for teaching. And thank you Morash for bringing it to the masses.
