Latest project - w/a couple pics

Been working for several months on a kitchen for one of the daughters and her family. Five upper cabinets and seven lower cabinets. Boxes were primarily 3/4" prefinished maple ply - and boy, do I like that stuff!. Face frames are red oak (mostly plain sawn but some other stuff, too). Door and drawer fronts are 1/4 sawn red oak. Flat panels are 1/2" 1/4/rift red oak ply. Drawer boxes are 1/2" "cabinet grade" birch ply (like a less expensive Baltic birch). Full ext slides from CSH and "euro" hinges ffrom CSH - excellent supplier - good quality -fantastic prices.

Nothing fancy on the finishing schedule. Clear polyurethane sprayed on w/HVLP. 7 coats sanded lightly between coats.

Took them from our place (near Lansing, MI) to theirs (near Columbus, OH) and installed last weekend. Got it all done (with a LOT of assistance from some of their good friends) in about 6 hours on site.

I still owe them a crown moulding and we have to design and build a pantry but so far so good.

Major learnings: Finish the panels before you install them in the door glue up. I usually do this but was lazy this time and didn't. Not a deal breaker but I can tell the difference up close.

Well done. The satisfaction of doing it yourself along with knowing it will last, just can't be beat.

Very nice job. You can't buy the satisfaction you get from your own work.
