Fly Tying Work Station Plans

My nephew has gotten into fly fishing and fly tying and with his birthday coming up in a couple of months, I was wondering if anyone has or knows of any plans for a fly tying work station or table.

I am thinking of a table top type that could be later converted over to a full work station desk with extra storage and such.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you,

Welcome to Woodmagazine.  I came up with a few links below for plans that might work for you:

Fly Station

Flexible Fly Tying

Build You Own Fly Station

If these don't work you can try googling fly tying work station plans and you should get a lot of hits.

I have a variation of this one....

This is also the one I make for others as a base unit...

Of the many as in A LOT, this one has worked out the best from the get go...

Of course I or any of us other fanatics can never be happy with the way anything ever is and have got to tinker (often) and all things must evolve......

Now, if only I had done this...

Pick what you think will work and offer to modify it to your nephew"s taste/liking/quirks...

Be prepared to put it back the way it was too...

Once he gets going and the passion builds he'll spend hours and then some at the bench...

center the bench to compliment him then the vise...

The idea is to go into with a rock bottom MISS/KISS mind set...

The style makes a difference if you are right/left handed or ambidextrous...

BTW, the vise can be a never ending story too...

Later...

You convinced me that I absolutely need to go fishing...

this would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...
if only new layers hadn't been added....

Stick....
