Hello Friend, Not knowing where you live it is hard to recommend a source however I get my African Mahogany from the Miller Hardwood sales in lower Indiana for $6.00 per BF whether it is 4/4 or 8/4 delivered to my door. Since I am only 94 miles from them the shipping is at no charge.
Remember to keep your hands no closer to a spinning blade or bit than 6" for safety sake.

Respectfully,

Try my company, Woodworkers Source, for many different exotics.  HERE are some unusual woods from Peru.

Forest grown Burma Teak has definitely reached the stratosphere but look for plantation grown teak.  The color is more pale and there will be more pin knots but the price will likely be reasonable.  Sorry, but I do not have in stock.

Genuine Mahogany prices are high but not out of reach for many projects but also consider some alternatives...African Mahogany, Sapele, Sipo, Lyptus and others.

One very good aid to finding wood is www.woodfinder.com   You can ask about sellers of particular varieties, and also screen for the location.  Lots of times you will find sellers in your own vicinity that you had not known.  Teak is a tough one.  You can often find manufactured items from teak at considerably lower prices than the wood itself would cost you to buy.

"You can often find manufactured items from teak at considerably lower prices than the wood itself would cost you to buy."

This has long been the case as the growing countries tried to keep and/or create jobs.  The export price of lumber was government controlled or only milled pieces were permitted for export.  Today the world market is a little different.  The US has banned imports from Burma so magically more Teak is coming from India,, Laos or Thailand but the price has remained sky high.

Teak is easily propagated and plantations have been developed around the world.  In plantation environment Teak grows very fast.  It is this plantation Teak that is used to manufacture most products.  Yesterday I was offered a container of Teak from Mexico at less than half the cost of that from Southeast Asia.

Keith,

Like your website and the prices look competitive.  Im not looking at a lot of wood but several species.  I recently joined a boat modeling forum for RCs and chose to build this Lorcha style Junk  boat I found her for sale $22800.00 if it interests any one.  Great story and nice piece of history!   I'm thinking a  four foot build.  I want to use textures / colors of wood instead of paint.

I'm keeping in mind all other responses too and much appreciate.  This little boat I hope to build with my 9 year old son.    this is the sales site for more pictures of the gem  ????????

Just found his web site !  hes got before and after pictures of restoration take a look.
