perfect_joint.jpg          Just to kick off the blog i want to say that this is not a commercial for the Kehoe jig just a small explanation. Currently i am building a hall table out of peruvian walnut forcusing on three different kinds of dovetails. Hand cut, Kehoe Jig, and Using the Kehoe jig to create what look exactly like a hand cut hald blind dovetail. Its a very cool cheat that could not be easistep2.jpger.

So the Kehoe jig is a dovetail jig that creates dovetail splines. Im sure youve all seen them before in boxes and the like but what makes the Kehoe Jig so spectacular is that it cuts the slot with a 1 degree taper. When the dovetail keys are also cut on the 1 degree taper using the provided sled it is a perfect fit every time. It creates beautiful dovetails and looks beautiful on boxes. Im takin it to the next level with a use on drawers to creat half blinds but on big 10" drawers this is a very easy cheat to create some beautiful dovetails. Im sure you will come to see why the Kehoe jig is one of my favorite step3.jpgjigs. Also i will show you that you can change dovetail jigs using a bushing and create a leaner dovetail than you can make with the big supplied as well as a larger dovetail. By utilizing different sized bits you can even create double double dovetail splines with contrasting woods. Hopefullymaking_splines.jpg i will get some more info on the drawers of the desk as well as the desk itself in a few days. If you want any additional information on the Kehoe Jig you can check them out at http://www.dovetailspline.com/
