Wood Magazine Forum Guidelines

[ Edited ]

It is the intent of the forums at WOOD Online to provide an enjoyable, educational community for all woodworkers to post woodworking-related questions, reply to posted questions, or to simply browse what other woodworkers are discussing.

  • The first post of each thread must contain a woodworking-related question. The first post of a thread MAY NOT be used to advertise or promote a product, company, internet site, sale, individual, or service. Original posts and replies to existing posts which are simply solicitations from commercial businesses will also be removed.   If you wish to advertise your product or internet site, please contact Lisa Greenwood (lisa.greenwood@meredith.com) for rates. Forum posts, classified ads, or personal pages that advertise or promote one of the items listed above will be removed.

From time to time, WOOD will post about a program or sale from one of our sponsors. Often these promotions are just for the WOOD Online audience. This is not a conflict of interests, as these vendors help support our internet sites and keep the site free for our users. And just as when we walk in to Home Depot and see an in-house promotion, we will use our own sites to promote vendors that financially support our sites and publications.

We realize this policy is not perfect, but it does allow us to keep our site free of promotional material. For the non-commerical selling of personal woodworking tools, supplies, or other shop-related items, we invite you to use the free classfieds forum.

  • Keep it clean. Please do not place any material on our forums or site that could be considered offensive, indecent, abusive, hateful, harassing, libelous, unlawful, or in poor taste. Do not use profanity. Our audience tends to be family-oriented and can include young adults and school age children in search of woodworking knowledge.

  • We have the right, but not the obligation, to remove, edit, or relocate any content that we feel violates the standards of our site. Because of the real-time nature of our forums, it is not always possible for us to remove offensive material immediately.

  • If you have a problem or concern with an individual, company, or manufacturer, please contact that party privately. Do not use the forums for airing personal grievances. If you have a concern with forum administration, do not use the forums for such discussions. Direct those to  main forum host Matt Seiler (mswoodcraft@comcast.net).

  • Posts violating any of the above policies can be removed without notice.

Best,

Matt Seiler
